Co-Curricular activities

Co-Curricular activities

1) During WOW week a hypnotist came to NDNU to perform. I was skeptical to see if it would work. As the show began i slowly noticed that people were under hypnosis. It was very exciting and quite frightening. The people had control of there bodies and what not but they were doing the most ridiculous things. The hypnotist made a senior think he had breasts. This was very funny because the student began to cry that he didn't want to have them. The overall show was awesome.

2) Coyote point.
After wow week the entire freshman class was taken to coyote point to volunteer. Our jobs were simple all we had to do was remove dead tree stumps and plants that did not belong there or were not from that area. The work was extremely tiring. It was not the first time i had done something like that but it was exciting.

3) I attended $ALT event in the chapel. The salt event basically discussed ways to get money, save money, pay for college, and also had internship opportunities for NDNU students. The salt program is    payed for by the school for the rest of our lives. If I was to need a job in ten years but had no way of acquiring one I could use the salt program to get one. The presenter was very friendly.

4) The last event that I attended was the prayer vigil for the 43 Mexican students that disappeared. These students are presumed dead because they have been missing for so long. The bodies were never found. These students were protesting in Guerrero, Mexico when they were picked up by the local police and turned over to the local cartel. That is the only information that is known about what happened to the students. At the vigil people prayed and sang songs for the 43 students. It was very sad knowing that Mexico is so corrupt.

Black Mountain

Black Mountain was  a new experience for me. As the person leading the group I had a great time. The more athletic people were at the head of the pack. Though we did walk to fast for the others our small group of leading individuals really connected to the environment as we were the first to view and experience nature. The camping itself was also fun. I thought that the hard floor would prevent me from sleeping at night but I slept like a baby. The morning although was extremely hot and humid. It felt like was in Mexico. The overall trip of Black mountain was an experience I will never forget.

Potrero Nuevo Farm

Potrero Nuevo Farm

This farm is managed by two people or shall i say a couple with their puppy named bear. The farm is located in Half Moon Bay California and it is a decent size. 80% of the crops grown are given to charity and to the less fortunate. The other 20% is sold and used to continue the farm. The only problem is that recently the farm had to cut back on there planting of new crops and harvest as water shortage in California is becoming increasingly worse. At the time spent at Potrero Nuevo Farm the class and I harvested lavender and potatoes. It was fun and i really enjoyed it.

  • The universe is nit a place but a process, a process that is never ending. Just as the universe is a process the earth is s process as well. We humans and many other animals on the planet are also a process we mutate and learn to survive in different regions and areas across the  globe. To keep the process of the earth going we must take care of her. As we tear through the earth crust pull out its limited resources we are slowly destroying it.

Journey of the Universe Chapters 1-7

Misael Marquez Madrigal
Journey of the universe
1-7

These chapters where very intriguing as it describes and goes into the expansion and the creation of the universe. Though we don't know the size of the universe we know that it is a part of our being. We humans have a connection to the stars and the universe. We are created out of the same elements as stars. The thing that struck me the most was the fact that we're miniscule to most things in the universe. Stars are our ancestors and we a special bond connecting to them. The universe is a process is constantly expanding farther and farther into the darkness of space. We like plants are creating energy from the sun.
